Position Summary

The Accounting Department Manager manages the credit union’s accounting operations to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and accounting standards. This position oversees the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, and month-end close process, while implementing robust accounting systems and internal controls. This role is responsible for leading and developing the accounting team and collaborating with CFO, Financial Reporting Manager, and senior leadership to support audit readiness, financial planning, and process improvements.

Please note: This position is primarily located at our HSFCU Headquarters in Downtown Honolulu. Base Annual Salary Range: $108,900 - $142,905 per yearThe posted range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position, with final compensation determined based on experience, skills, and internal equity.

Essential Duties:

Accounting Operations and Compliance•    Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset, and reconciliations.•    Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end close process.•    Maintain and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures.•    Collaborate with the Financial Reporting Manager to ensure data integrity and consistency across accounting and reporting functions. •    Supports technical accounting research and the implementation of new accounting standards as required. •    Oversee implementation and maintenance of accounting and financial systems. Audit and Financial Support•    Support the Financial Reporting Manager and CFO during external audits and regulatory examinations to support compliance and transparency.•    Collaborate with the Financial Reporting Manager, CFO, and department managers in the development of the annual budget and forecasts.•    Collaborate with the Financial Reporting Manager to provide financial analysis and insights for strategic decision making. Leadership and Process Improvement •    Lead and develop accounting staff through training, coaching, development, and performance management.•    Oversee day-to-day operations of the accounting function, and evaluate and improve accounting workflows for efficiency and accuracy.•    Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of processes and successful implementation of initiatives that enhance operational excellence.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience•    2+ years in a supervisory role, •    Comprehensive technical knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting standards.•    Advance understanding of financial systems and internal controls.•    Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems.•    Proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools.•    Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.•    Proactive in driving process improvements and efficiency initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Experience utilizing NetSuite2. Demonstrated leadership and team development.3. Accounting experience in a financial institution4. Licensed CPA
