Mitsubishi International Corporation’s Corporate Accounting Department is seeking a Coordinator Accounting. Under the general direction of a Director Accounting, the Coordinator Accounting is responsible for the operational accounting activities necessary to maintain the accurate and complete accounting records for the business units in Houston, in compliance with the company's accounting policies and procedures.

This position performs daily accounting activities and closing processes, including disbursements, cash receipts, journal entries and account reconciliations, and provides ongoing accounting support to the assigned business units. The Staff Accountant will work with other team members to continue enhancing the operational efficiency for the Accounting Department in Houston.

Key Accountabilities

35% | General Accounting Activities

Perform general accounting activities for the assigned departments and business areas to maintain accurate and complete accounting records: Review disbursement instructions and related supporting documents for appropriate documentation, approval and general ledger coding. Apply cash receipts to accounts receivable and communicate with the trade departments regarding payment discrepancies. Prepare journal entries for assigned general ledger accounts and liaise with cash management and trade departments to resolve issues related to disbursements. Maintain and file account documentation in a timely and organized manner. Perform other duties as required and assigned.

25% | Closing

Follow Execute accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close activities: Efficiently plan and perform assigned tasks and provide all deliverables to managers' review in a timely manner. Analyze and prepare journal entries & supporting schedules for assigned accounts. Coordinate with the assigned trade departments to obtain information for closing, such as quarterly reporting forms, and assist managers in preparing account reconciliations, analyses, and financial reports.

20% | Trade Department Support

Work closely with the assigned trade departments and other corporate functions to provide ongoing accounting support, respond to inquiries and provide the requested information timely and accurately with manager consultation as necessary.

10% |Information Sharing

Assist in collecting and providing accounting information requested by internal and external parties. Collect information related to audit and internal controls related requests, review the information for accuracy and completeness, and submit them timely. Conduct semi-annual balance confirmation process for the assigned trade departments. Assist in preparing balance confirmation requests from customers/suppliers and their auditors.

10% |Other

Perform other accounting activities, including the following: Assist in documenting accounting process and workflow manual/guidance. Work with other team members to send accounting files to storage locations for record retention. Perform ad-hoc tasks and substitute for others in the event of absence or when emergency situations arise. Support managers with efficiency improvement projects in accounting process

Job Qualifications

Years of Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience.

Education:

Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field [Required] Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field [Preferred]

Languages:

English [Required]

Other Relevant Experience:

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including excellent Excel skills, and experience with major ERP systems Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner Ability to work effectively within a team Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Public accounting experience is preferred SAP experience is beneficial

Reports to: Director, Accounting Compensation: The expected base salary for this Houston, Texas, United States-based position is $68,261.26. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in the company’s short-term incentive program with a target bonus of 6%. Compensation decisions are dependent on the specific details and circumstances of each hire, such as experience, skills, and education.
