SUMMARY

The Resort Controller will work with the CFO/VP of Finance to manage all aspects of the accounting department to ensure efficiency and accuracy. This position will work collaboratively with all departments and guide the accounting team in establishing effective communication and working relationships across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & OVERSIGHT OF

Payment of monthly sales taxes Preparation of yearly state tax return Oversee and approve AP payments of all types Approve bank reconciliations monthly Approve account reconciliations monthly Approve inventory account balances monthly Prepare and maintain a multitude of financial statements and monthly journal entries Oversee and assist Accounting staff Assist leadership team in forecasting and budgeting process Attend credit meetings, forecast meetings, and accounting staff meetings Post payroll entries Issue and maintain corporate credit cards Verify Gift Card balances and activity Maintain Great Plains Chart of Accounts Maintain good rapport with fellow employees and reflect on a team-oriented mindset Must understand and abide by environmental practices of the resort Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from four-year University or College in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. At least 5 years of accounting experience Resort/Hotel accounting experience is a plus

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)

Being able to understand and work with different personality types.

Ability to work both independently and cross-functionally to achieve goals. Ability to thrive in a multi-tasked and fast-paced environment. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form with the public as well as other team members.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (If applicable) The Resort Controller will directly supervise payroll manager, purchasing manager, accounts payable clerks, general cashier, and staff accountants. This includes managing schedules, disciplinary action, reporting, administrative tasks, evaluations, planning, directing, planning/attending/leading meetings, etc.

Ability to work well under pressure Ability to meet deadlines on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and subtract in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Office hours will vary depending on business levels. Though standard business hours are from 45 to 50 hours per week, it may be necessary to work outside of these hours based on the needs of the Resort. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
