POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Accounting Clerk coordinates accounting functions such as general ledger/account maintenance, account reconciliation, data processing, reporting and software applications. The Accounting Clerk provides direct support to the Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer to contribute to the overall effectiveness of the YMCA’s accounting department in its role of supporting the other units of the Association.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assists Finance Director with day-to-day functions of the accounting and business operations for the YMCA and its related entities.
  2. Performs daily cash management, monthly bank reconciliations, assigned general ledger account reconciliation, and preparation of invoices for accounts receivable. 
  3. Reviews branch safe logs and till counts on a monthly basis.
  4. Assists in periodic cash handling training at the YMCA branches.
  5. Provide shift close-out and technical support to YMCA branch staff.
  6. Reprocess NSF bank and credit card drafts.
  7. Research, document and record chargebacks. 
  8. Posts payments for DSHS-DCYF in support of the childcare program.
  9. Reconciliation and entries for our Funraise program.
  10. Invoicing for programs such as ECEAP and ALTCEW and assisting accounting staff with any other invoice processing.
  11. Provide backup for A/P invoice entry and other related A/P functions. 
  12. Assists with month end/year end closings and work papers for the auditors.
  13. Assist with recording the bi-annual inventory counts for all YMCA branches. 
  14. Supports staff by preparing requested reports and having a working knowledge on required entries for memberships, childcare, and contributions.
  15. Completes a variety of accounting, financial analysis, and budget projects. 
  16. May serve as liaison for day-to-day banking activities. 
  17. Attends assigned meetings and prepares and distributes meeting minutes, maintaining confidentiality, and retaining sensitive information within the accounting department.
  18. Filing documentation in support of both the accounting/finance department and business office.
  19. Perform other job-related duties as assigned to support association goals.
