    Brookfield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Accounting Clerk.
    Location:  Brookfield High School
    Position Type: Secretarial, S-2, 11 Month

    Brookfield Public Schools is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk to support the financial and operational functions of a school-based office. This position performs bookkeeping, clerical, and administrative support duties essential to the efficient operation of the school and requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and vendors.

    The Accounting Clerk works under the supervision of a building administrator and is responsible for maintaining financial records, processing requisitions and invoices, supporting budget management activities, and assisting with general office operations.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Performing detailed bookkeeping and related recordkeeping functions
    • Preparing and processing purchase requisitions and invoices
    • Tracking orders and communicating with vendors regarding purchases and deliveries
    • Managing Student Activity Accounts, including deposits, disbursements, reconciliations, and audit documentation
    • Preparing routine financial and operational reports
    • Assisting with school budget preparation and monitoring
    • Coordinating supplies, inventory, and bidding processes
    • Collecting and processing field trip forms, payments, and transportation requests
    • Maintaining organized electronic and paper filing systems
    • Responding to telephone, email, and in-person inquiries from staff, families, and the public
    • Supporting office operations and assisting with other clerical duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • Prior bookkeeping, accounting, or office management experience preferred
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
    • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle detailed financial information accurately
    • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative office environment
    • Ability to type accurately and efficiently

    Compensation and benefits shall be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement and Board policies.
