Description of Work

Reporting to the Administrative Specialist II, this position is responsible for all Trust Fund Office operations within the Accounting Section of a Correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintaing offender funds within the Inmate Banking System (IBS) and the Cashless on the Net/Canteen System (CON).
- Sorting, reconciling, balancing, and filing all supporting documentation necessary for audit.
- Accounting activities and procedures including special fund accounts, canteen checks, and review of monthly canteen reports.
- Depositing funds daily.
- Working with the JPAY system for offender deposits and computerized financial operations such as the State Accounting System (NCAS) and the Cashless System (CON).
- Working independently, communicating both orally and in writing, organizing to meet constant deadlines, and multi-tasking.
- Comprehending and following policies and procedures.
- Serving as backup for the Accounting II position.

Salary Range: $31,200 - $51,249

The salary grade for this position is NC02.  State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position.  If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.  Based upon these factors, a pay increase May result.

About the Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.

About Southern Correctional Institution:

Southern Correctional Institution is located in Troy, North Carolina and houses up to 700 male offenders in a close, medium, and minimum custody facility.
