Finance employees receive, account for, monitor, and design internal controls to safeguard sacred funds (donated confidentially in obedience to God's commandments) for the Church's religious mission under the direction of senior ecclesiastical leaders.
Under moderate supervision, incumbents in this position perform a variety of journey/working level accounting/banking clerical functions including calculating, verifying, posting, and summarizing accounting and/or banking information using a working knowledge of bookkeeping principles and methods.
At this level, incumbents may maintain assigned segments of the accounting records such as accounts payable, general ledger bookkeeping, accounts receivable, or specified banking operations. Incumbents are expected to help maintain and ensure accuracy of financial information.
Responsibilities
Assist with credit card transaction review procedures
Create accounting and budget transaction entries
Reconcile system balances on monthly basis
Assist in budget preparation and consolidation, including entering summarized data in budget systems, and preparing supplemental reports
Assist with the creation of a variety of reports, such as devotional schedules, tuition proposals, donated funds usage, and investment results
Assist with preparation of event speaker requests and notifications
Assist with meeting scheduling, hosting, and notetaking
Follow data protection standards and maintain data confidentiality
Embrace accountability for work results
Qualifications
Accounting degree (associate or bachelor’s) or equivalent combination of accounting coursework and experience
Careful attention to detail
Solid understanding of debits and credits
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills including
writing and debugging Visual Basic macros
managing links to external Excel files
creating and modifying charts
leveraging relative, absolute, and mixed cell references
utilizing nested logical functions
utilizing data manipulation functions
Comfort working with numbers for hours at a time
Ability to maintain information confidentiality
Ability to track and prioritize numerous simultaneous tasks to meet deadlines
Ability to produce high work volume in narrow time intervals
Ability to work a defined schedule that aligns with manager schedule
