Introduction


The State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation (DOT), is now accepting applications to fill various Accounting Careers Trainee positions with a target class of Accountant, in the Bureau of Finance & Administration, Office of Finance. The selected candidate(s) will receive on-the-job training for advancement into a professional level position of Accountant.
What We Can Offer You: Position Highlights: The Role: As an Accounting Careers Trainee, you will receive training in introductory accounting work to develop skills and knowledge to qualify for advancement into a professional agency accounting position. You will perform a variety of increasingly complex duties as skills are acquired during the training period.

Minimum Requirements

Completion of 1 Year of Training 

Bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours
in accounting and/or qualifying experience

 $67,460/year

 $70,542/year

Bachelor's degree with at least 30 semester hours
in accounting

 $69,521/year

 $72,661/year

Master's degree in a related field with at least
15 semester hours in accounting

 $71,606/year

 $74,843/year

The salary for an employee who completes any of the above minimum requirements after initial appointment to the Accounting Careers Trainee job class will be adjusted commensurate with the schedule above and effective the pay period following the date the degree has been conferred or the pay period following the date the appropriate number of credits as indicated above have been earned.

For current state employees compensation will be in accordance with guidelines for computing salary adjustments set forth by the Department of Administrative Services, Determining Salary Upon Change in Class Manual.


Who We Are:  The Office of Finance is comprised of three Divisions (Budget Services, Capital Services, and Financial Management & Support) responsible for providing the business and financial support, budgeting, accounting, accounts receivable, and federal and state funding management necessary to meet the needs of the Department.  Office of Finance staff help plan for, monitor, control, and report on the expenses that the Department incurs while maintaining and improving the State’s rails, buses, highways, bridges, pedestrian routes, and various other projects.  The current recruitment includes positions in Financial Management & Support and Budget Services.  It is anticipated that this recruitment may be used for future vacancies in all divisions.
