The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Central Office, is now accepting applications to fill a full time Accounting Careers Trainee position with a target class of Accountant. This role will be based in our Central Office, Hartford CT.
As an Accounting Careers Trainee, you will gain valuable on-the-job training and close supervision to help you master the skills you will need to complete your training program. The length of your training program will vary between one and three years based on your educational qualifications. After successful completion of the training program, you will be eligible for promotion to an Accountant without further competitive examination. This role; POSITION HIGHLIGHTS However, work schedule flexibility is required in order to meet the demands of the job. Hybrid schedule may be requested upon the successful completion of a Working Test Period

Minimum Requirements

Completion of 1 Year of Training 

Bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours
in accounting and/or qualifying experience

 $67,460/year

 $70,542/year

Bachelor's degree with at least 30 semester hours
in accounting

 $69,521/year

 $72,661/year

Master's degree in a related field with at least
15 semester hours in accounting

 $71,606/year

 $74,843/year

The salary for an employee who completes any of the above minimum requirements after initial appointment to the Accounting Careers Trainee job class will be adjusted commensurate with the schedule above and effective the pay period following the date the degree has been conferred or the pay period following the date the appropriate number of credits as indicated above have been earned.

For current state employees compensation will be in accordance with guidelines for computing salary adjustments set forth by the Department of Administrative Services, Determining Salary Upon Change in Class Manual.
