Full job description below: Accounting Assistant Position Summary The Accounting Assistant supports the financial operations of the organization while developing the analytical, operational, and leadership skills. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting and compliance activities, and contributing to process improvement initiatives that strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency. Over time, this position will play an increasing role in financial analysis, process leadership, and decision support to help ensure the integrity of financial data and the organization’s long-term financial health. - Starting pay is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour plus incentives
- Maintain accurate accounting records and enter financial transactions
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Process invoices, payments, and bank deposits
- Reconcile accounts, statements, and supporting documentation
- Track vendor records and required tax documentation
- Maintain asset and property tracking records
- Monitor purchase orders and support documentation
- Support job costing and financial tracking for projects
- Maintain financial documentation and filing systems
- Assist in preparation of monthly and periodic financial reports
- Support reconciliation and validation of financial data
- Identify discrepancies and investigate variances
- Assist with sales tax reporting and financial schedules
- Prepare supporting schedules for leadership reporting
- Assist with commission calculations and tracking
- Contribute to financial data analysis to support operational decisions
- Assist in preparation for internal and external audits
- Maintain organized financial documentation and supporting schedules
- Help ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
- Support monitoring and documentation of internal controls
- Assist in year-end close preparation and documentation management
- Evaluate accounting workflows for efficiency and accuracy
- Assist in documenting procedures and financial processes
- Recommend improvements to financial tracking and reporting systems
- Support implementation of accounting system enhancements
- Participate in cross-functional process improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with operations and leadership to provide financial insight
- Support budget tracking and financial planning activities
- Assist in monitoring financial performance indicators
- Provide data support for decision-making and operational planning
- Cross-train in multiple accounting functions for operational continuity
- Support training of staff on financial processes and documentation
- Lead assigned financial projects or improvement initiatives
- Prepare financial information for leadership review
- Develop readiness for progressive responsibility and supervision
- Maintain financial records and documentation systems
- Prepare required reports and supporting materials
- Provide front desk coverage as needed
- Perform related and additional duties as the position progresses

- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting required
- Experience with reconciliations and financial reporting support preferred
- Experience supporting audits or month-end processes preferred
- Strong spreadsheet and data analysis capability required
- Experience with journal entries and QuickBooks required
- Progress toward professional accounting certification or willingness to pursue
- Experience supporting budgeting or forecasting
- Experience improving accounting workflows or systems
- Previous leadership experience or progression in responsibilities
- Month-end and year-end close support
- Financial statement preparation and analysis
