Accounting Associate - Part-Time

Reports to: Finance Manager

Job Summary

The Accounting Associate is responsible for processing accounts payable invoices, monthly expense reimbursements, reconciling vendor activity and assisting with the daily accounting processes.   

Major Job Functions:

• Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
• Process payment runs
• Respond to vendor inquiries
• Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
• Assist with monthly closing process as needed
• Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms
• Gather documentation for audits
• Other duties as required

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Above average speed when using computer programs and entering data
• High school diploma required
• Prior experience in an office setting preferred
• An aptitude for mastering computer systems
• Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Interact with employees, vendors and customers in a professional manner
• Well organized and a self-starter
• Inquisitive nature that needs to know the “how” and the “why” things work.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Work Environment:  You will be with a collaborative team. This position operates in an office setting and operates normal office equipment including computers, copiers, telephones and filing systems.

Physical Demands: There are only minor physical demands such as filing.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This position is a part-time day position (up to 20 hours per week) – Typical work days are Monday through Friday.  Daily hours are flexible.
