Accounting Assistant

Southern Ionics is hiring an Accounting Assistant at our West Point, Mississippi corporate offices. This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional looking for hands-on experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities in an established company, with strong potential for advancement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities.
• Maintain supplier table in ERP system.
• Provide credit information and complete applications for suppliers.
• Review and approval of expense reports.
• Perform account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and customer/supplier transaction analysis.
• Assist with accounting audits.
• Prepare reports as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support accounting group by fulfilling additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Make recommendations to management for problem resolution.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Business.
• Accounting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Lifting could include objects up to 15 pounds.
• Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization.
