Scope and Summary of the Position:
The Accounting Assistant will assist the Accounting Manager with daily accounting operations, including payroll processing, accounts payable, purchasing policy compliance, reconciliations, recordkeeping, and general accounting support. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting internal controls, and ensuring company transactions are processed timely and in accordance with company policies, accounting procedures, and applicable compliance requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accurately record and reconcile daily sales receipts to maintain up-to-date revenue records
- Calculate and record the cost of goods sold (COGS) to facilitate accurate financial reporting
- Track and document cash transactions in cash count log, ensuring proper reconciliation and reporting
- Record and reconcile bank transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers, to maintain accurate cash balances
- Record purchase orders and vendor invoices in the accounting system, verifying accuracy and maintaining a well-organized accounts payable system
- Collaborate with the inventory team to ensure accurate valuation of inventory, making necessary adjustments as needed
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of monthly budgets, tracking variances and providing insights for better financial decision-making
- Process employees' bi-weekly payroll and ensure accurate recording of employee payroll checks, tax liabilities, and benefits, maintaining compliance with tax regulations
- Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts, including assets, liabilities, and equity
- Generate customized financial reports as needed by management to support strategic decision-making
- Analyze and review financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement) to ensure accuracy and provide insights for the business
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance
- 1+ years of accounting experience in cannabis or similar industry
- 2+ years in Microsoft Programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams Etc.
- 1+ year of payroll processing
- 1+ year of QuickBooks experience
- Experience and knowledge of reconciliation of point of sale data
- Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

- Hybrid role working in multiple locations, travel to retail locations and distribution facilities as needed.
