About the Position
The Accounting Assistant is part of the Accounting Department, reporting to the Director of Accounting, and assists the department with various clerical and financial tasks. This is a full-time, non-exempt, in-office position. Irregular hours may be required; and, if so, will be scheduled in advance.Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Accounts Payable Specialist.
- Assist with reconciling bank statements.
- Prepare bank deposit slips and process electronic deposits.
- Assist with monthly and year-end closing procedures and financial statements.
- Create and maintain complex excel spreadsheets.
- Assist with expense entries for departments and centers, including summer centers.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly state withholding and sales tax.
- Process pension payments.
- Manage the credit card payments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Candidate Description
- Desire to serve others by working with a Christian organization and ability to interact cooperatively and in a spirit of teamwork with all employees of Appalachia Service Project.
- Associate degree or higher in a Business- or Accounting-related field.
- Thorough computer literacy and understanding of an integrated general ledger accounting program.
- Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Good verbal, written, and nonverbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Microsoft Business Central experience
- Bank reconciliation, month- and year-end closing experience.
