Accounting & Financial Reporting Evaluator

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for accounting professionals experienced in financial reporting, audit, taxation, GAAP or IFRS application, financial statement analysis, and structured evaluation of technical accounting work.

This role supports current and upcoming remote consulting opportunities focused on evaluating complex accounting and financial reporting outputs. Selected professionals will compare alternative responses to technical accounting problems, assess their accuracy and standards compliance, identify weaknesses in the underlying analysis, and provide clear written feedback supporting high-quality evaluation workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Response Evaluation

• Compare alternative responses to the same accounting or financial reporting problem
• Determine which response demonstrates stronger technical accuracy, reasoning, and professional judgment
• Assess whether conclusions are appropriately supported by the supplied information
• Identify calculation errors, unsupported assumptions, incomplete analysis, and incorrect accounting treatment

GAAP, IFRS & Financial Reporting Review

• Evaluate outputs for compliance with applicable GAAP or IFRS requirements
• Review accounting treatment involving financial statements, audit considerations, taxation, and related reporting matters
• Assess the interpretation and application of relevant accounting standards
• Identify inconsistencies between technical conclusions, supporting analysis, and financial reporting requirements

Written Evaluation & Feedback

• Provide clear written explanations supporting each evaluation decision
• Explain why one response is stronger based on accuracy, standards compliance, completeness, and analytical quality
• Document technical errors and opportunities for improvement precisely
• Produce feedback that can be applied consistently across similar accounting tasks

Quality Calibration & Project Participation

• Complete onboarding and accounting-specialty calibration activities
• Apply project-specific evaluation standards consistently across assigned work
• Incorporate structured reviewer feedback into future assessments
• Maintain accuracy, attention to detail, and consistency throughout the evaluation process

Ideal Profile

Strong candidates may have:

• At least 2 years of professional experience in accounting, audit, taxation, corporate finance, or advisory
• Practical experience applying GAAP, IFRS, or comparable financial reporting standards
• Strong knowledge of financial statements, accounting judgments, and professional reporting requirements
• Ability to review complex accounting scenarios and identify subtle technical errors
• Excellent written communication and the ability to explain accounting conclusions clearly
• Strong attention to detail and confidence working independently
• Availability to contribute approximately 10–20 hours per week

Educational Background

• A degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a related analytical field is helpful
• A CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification is highly relevant
• Professional experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, audit, tax, or financial advisory may be considered alongside formal qualifications
• Equivalent hands-on experience evaluating complex accounting and financial reporting matters is also valuable

Nice to Have

• Experience reviewing workpapers, financial statements, disclosures, audit documentation, or tax analyses
• Familiarity with technical accounting research and professional-standard interpretation
• Experience comparing alternative accounting treatments or reviewing work produced by accounting teams
• Knowledge of complex areas such as revenue recognition, leases, consolidations, business combinations, or income taxes
• Previous involvement in structured evaluation, benchmarking, quality assurance, or technical review workflows
• Experience providing written feedback to junior accountants, analysts, or professional teams

Contract Details

• Fully remote with flexible scheduling

• Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
• Onboarding and specialty calibration activities may be required
• Projects may be extended, shortened, or adjusted depending on scope and performance
