Title: Accounting & Finance Manager
Full-time | San Diego, CA | On-site
Why This Role Stands Out
Join a growing engineering and manufacturing company building advanced, industry-leading products for customers across motorsports, aerospace, defense, and industrial markets. We’re looking for a highly organized, analytical, and hands-on Accounting & Finance Manager who wants to own the numbers, improve the systems behind them, and play a visible role in how the business operates.
This is a great fit for someone who enjoys the precision of accounting, the pace of a smaller company, and the chance to work directly with leadership. You’ll manage core accounting processes, partner with an external CPA, and help build scalable financial and operational workflows as the company continues to grow.
Because this role touches finance, purchasing, inventory, ERP systems, and day-to-day operations, it offers meaningful variety and the opportunity to become a trusted business partner, not just the person closing the books.
- High-impact role with direct visibility to leadership and business decisions.
- Broad scope across accounting, finance, purchasing, inventory, and operations.
- Opportunity to improve processes, strengthen controls, and help scale the finance function.
- Work close to innovative products serving demanding technical markets.
What You’ll Do:
Accounting & Financial Leadership
- Own day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, expense reporting, credit card reconciliations, and invoice processing.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare accurate accounting information for monthly and year-end close in partnership with the company’s external CPA.
- Review employee timesheets and payroll data for accuracy prior to processing.
- Reconcile transactions, monitor expense classifications, and maintain general accounting records.
- Support budgeting, financial reporting, inventory valuation, and management reporting that help leaders make informed decisions.
- Look for practical ways to improve accounting workflows, reporting accuracy, documentation, and internal controls.
Purchasing & Operations
- Process purchase orders through the ERP system and coordinate with vendors.
- Obtain pricing, negotiate purchases, and support procurement of equipment and operational supplies.
- Assist with inventory reporting and supply chain coordination.
- Resolve vendor questions, freight issues, and customs-related documentation as needed.
Business Support
- Partner with leadership on operational projects and process improvements.
- Help maintain company policies, business records, and internal documentation.
- Provide cross-functional support to operations and logistics during peak periods.
- Participate in special projects that improve efficiency across finance and operations.
What You Bring:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- 3-7 years of accounting or finance experience in a small or mid-sized business, with a willingness to wear multiple hats.
- A proactive, flexible mindset and interest in supporting operational needs beyond traditional accounting responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and month-end close processes.
- Experience with QuickBooks or comparable accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial analysis and reconciliations.
- Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service-oriented approach.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, defense, or technology companies.
- ERP experience (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar).
- Inventory accounting or purchasing experience.
- Experience working with external accounting firms or auditors.
Who Thrives Here:
You’ll love this role if you are someone who:
- Takes ownership and follows through without needing constant direction.
- Enjoys improving processes and building structure.
- Is naturally detail-oriented while understanding the bigger business picture.
- Thrives in a fast-moving environment where priorities evolve.
- Communicates professionally with executives, vendors, and teammates alike.
- Wants to become a trusted business partner, not simply process transactions.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 base, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may include discretionary annual bonuses and merit increases.
Benefits include:
- Medical, dental, disability, and life insurance
- 401(k) with company match
