Description Purpose
The Jr. Accountant is responsible for performing general bookkeeping functions, posting to the General Ledger, preparing payroll, and supplementing Receipts Processing coverage.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries to General Ledger, track status, and assist with month end closing
- Monitor timecards for approvals, enter payroll changes, and process bi-weekly payroll
- Reconcile retail deposits and follow up on missing data or deposits
- Process physical and online donations; assist donors by phone and email
- Verify and enter departmental deposits, prepare bank deposits
- Serve as backup for the Accounts Payables Clerk
- Perform reconciliations on several cash accounts
- Assist the Accountant and Controller with accounting tasks as needed

Qualifications
- A clear personal testimony of faith in Christ
- A commitment to the principles of the Word of God.
- Agreement with Word of Life’s Mission, Statement of Faith and Standard of Conduct.
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
- Previous non-profit accounting experience is preferred
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- High attention to detail
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks on a recurring basis
- Strong commitment to teamwork
- Ability to work on-site at the Word of Life NY office, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools is preferred
