Role: AccountingDuration: 6-month contract to start, with strong potential for conversion Work type: Remote (US)Our leading AI-powered technology solutions provider client is seeking an Accounting Analyst. The primary focus of this role is supporting a telecommunications tax refund initiative involving the recovery of overpaid telecom taxes submitted to the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), the administrator of FCC programs.
The successful candidate will leverage strong accounting fundamentals, advanced Excel skills, and an audit-focused mindset to validate financial information, identify discrepancies, and support critical reporting activities.
Responsibilities
- Review and reconcile large volumes of financial data and supporting documentation.
- Analyze invoices, transactions, and records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies, variances, and data inconsistencies.
- Perform account reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
- Support internal accounting and finance initiatives.
- Prepare accurate, audit-ready documentation and reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and validate financial information.
- Maintain detailed records of findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
- Assist with process improvements and financial data management initiatives.
- 3–5 years of accounting, audit, tax, or financial analysis experience.
- Experience working within a public accounting, audit, or tax firm environment strongly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to manage and analyze large datasets.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
- NetSuite experience is highly preferred.
- CPA designation or CPA-track candidate preferred.
- Experience performing account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
- Ability to support internal accounting and finance requests.
- Experience assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ability to partner effectively with multiple cross-functional stakeholders.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- Forensic Accounting experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel and spreadsheet expertise.
- Experience utilizing AI tools such as Claude or similar technologies.
- Strong critical thinking and investigative skills.
- Ability to synthesize large volumes of information into concise summaries and findings.
- Microsoft Excel (Advanced)
- NetSuite (Preferred)
