Polar Performance Materials was founded in 2012 and produces ultra-high purity alumina (HPA) using a proprietary low-carbon process. The factory, located in Oakville Canada is powered with electricity generated by Niagara Falls. Polar’s HPA is increasingly necessary to manufacture products used in high growth, high purity semiconductor applications. Other applications include LEDs, lithium-ion batteries, thermal management materials, and technical ceramics utilized in aerospace, medical and industrial systems.

Position Overview
The Accounting Analyst is responsible for supporting the company’s financial operations by managing accounts payable, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting with financial reporting and analysis. This role contributes to the preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and reporting activities to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information.
The Accounting Analyst works closely with the finance team to support daily accounting operations, month-end close processes, and financial analysis while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. GL and AP Account Management
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payment processing.
- Maintain accurate records of all accounts payable transactions and supporting documentation.
- Onboarding new vendors and keep them updated
- AI integration into AP and reporting automation
- Track, categorize, and monitor business expenses.
- Responsible for all monthly GL account reconciliations, accruals, and analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure transaction accuracy.
- Ensure financial records comply with company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Generate financial reports and summaries to support management decision-making.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required schedules
- Prepare journal entries and ensure accurate transaction recording.
- Contribute to special projects and continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
- Maintain and update the general ledger by recording financial transactions accurately.
- Collaborate with departments such as HR, operations, and supply chain on financial matters.
- Provide accounting support for capital projects, operational initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, ora related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in accounting, or financial analysis.
- CPA designation or active enrollment in the CPA program is an asset.
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
