Accounting Analyst

Responsibilities:Financial Reporting and Month-End Close
- Prepare year-end working papers for the Foundation & the Society.
- Complete lead sheets, schedules, and reconciliations for auditors to ensure audit readiness.
- Support the Finance Business Partner in variance analysis and ad hoc reporting for management and the Board.
- Respond to financial information requests from management, auditors, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain records of capital and collection assets, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and amortization.
- Reconcile capital asset accounts to the general ledger monthly.
- Prepare and monitor capital project reports, ensuring accurate tracking of costs and budgets.
- Update insurance records for capital and collection assets and maintain the asset database in Asset Planner.
- Prepare and file GST and Non-Residential Property Tax returns.
- Complete and submit copyright tariff reports and related payment processing.
- Prepare claims and reporting for select external grants and funding sources.
- Provide accurate schedules and documentation to support external audit requirements.
Reconciliations and General Accounting
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
- Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with accounting policies.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation to facilitate audits and internal reviews.
- Support other finance functions and serve as back-up for colleagues as required.
Systems, Reporting, and Process Improvement
- Leverage financial systems (Microsoft Dynamics Navision/Business Central, Asset Planner, Excel, Jet Essentials) to ensure accurate reporting and reconciliations.
- Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Produce ad hoc reports and analyses to support operational and financial decision-making.

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3–4 years of progressive accounting experience with responsibility for full-cycle accounting and capital asset management.
- CPA designation (or working toward completion) considered an asset.
- Experience in a not-for-profit or multi-entity environment is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel—intermediate to advanced), with pivot table and reporting experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision/Business Central and Asset Planner is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- All successful candidates (over the age of 18) will be required to go through Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
- The majority of work is in an office environment, with the option to work from home up to two days per week.
- 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday.
- Overtime may be required during peak periods (month-end, year-end, audit) with prior approval.
- The standard hours for this position are 35 hours per week;
- The schedule will generally be five consecutive days per week (Monday to Friday); and
- Occasional holiday, evening, and weekend work may be required
