Wilkes University invites applicants for an Accountant position in the Finance Office. Under the direction of the Accounting Supervisor, this position provides a variety of account reconciliations and statement preparation and will be an active member of the Finance Team.
The successful candidate is responsible for the reconciliation of balance sheet and income statement accounts including bank reconciliations, investment accounts, receivables, payroll withholdings, prepaids and fixed assets. The accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, providing financial help and support for agency funds, and assisting with the preparation of the annual financial statements and other internal and external reports. This position will also assist with the preparation of audit workpapers and the Form 990 tax return.
Qualifications include a BS in Accounting and minimum of two years' experience within the accounting field. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with fund accounting, preferably in higher education. The individual must have excellent communication, organization, customer service, and fluency with Microsoft Excel. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
