Assists in the monitoring and evaluation of the financial operations for the Area Command Finance Department including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and all general ledger transactions; assists in ensuring the financial integrity of financial records; prepares financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in review of accounting records, ledgers and statements for accuracy and completeness; this includes (but is not limited to) preparation of journals, various ledger activity, maintenance of the chart of accounts; ensures accuracy and completeness of the same.
- Assists in selecting qualified Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff; assists in planning and conducting orientation and on-the-job training for the same.
- Generates, reconciles and reviews assigned ledger accounts for accuracy, on a monthly basis; prepares correcting journal entries. Provides balance sheet reconciliations to Assistant Finance Manager on a monthly basis.
- Assists in reviewing trial balance/accounts for integrity before closing the books both monthly and annually.
- Assists in proofing and editing entries, including receipts, journals and disbursements to the general ledger.
- Assists in generating and verifying the accuracy of assigned monthly reports related to the close of the Great Plains Financial module.
- Assists with audit preparation for assigned units.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
- Ability to operate general office equipment, including a telephone, typewriter, computer and adding machine.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to other employees requiring assistance.
- Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
- Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5 – 10% of the time.
- Work is usually performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree from accredited college or university in Business Administration or related field
- and
- Three years work in accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or payroll accompanied by experience working in a religious, charitable organization preferred
- or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certifications:
- Valid State Drivers License
