Under the direction of the Controller, performs advanced accounting and financial reporting functions for the Convention Center Authority while assisting
with oversight of daily accounting operations.
Responsibilities:
- Posts, reviews, and maintains records of original entry related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, income, expenditures, and other financial activities.
- Compiles, records, analyzes, and reviews a variety of financial transactions.
- Manages and maintains the fixed asset process, including capitalization, disposals, depreciation, project tracking, and reconciliation of asset records.
- Reconciles subsidiaries and control accounts and prepares regular and special financial statements and reports.
- Reviews and monitors the work of accounting clerks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures and accounting
standards. - Assists in the classification and control of revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities.
- Attends applicable training sessions
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Three to five years of relevant experience required
- Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Individual should be self-motivated and self-starting, exhibit an ability to multi-task and require little supervision
- Proven experience in accounting roles with a strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, journal entries, and account reconciliation
- Familiarity with GAAP, governmental accounting standards, and SOX compliance protocols
- Experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments is preferred; experience in non-profit or governmental sectors is a plus.
