Position Summary:
MPLX Logistics and Storage (L&S) Accounting records costs and revenue for MPLX, prepares financial statements for operated joint ventures, engages with the business through financial reports, and maintains accounting records for SEC and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reporting.
MPLX L&S Accounting is looking for an accountant to join in executing MPLX’s cost accounting and reporting processes. We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills and works well in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as primary cost accounting contact for certain L&S business units. This includes preparing journal entries, recording accruals, and providing financial reports.
- Serve as primary cost accounting contact for Natural Gas and Natural Gas Liquids Services (NG&NGL). This includes preparing journal entries, recording accruals, and providing financial reports.
- Monitor the material and supply inventory process for MPLX NG&NGL and record journals to facilitate the process
- Assist in rolling out time writing processes to NG&NGL business units. Provide accounting oversight to these time writing processes once in production.
- Participate in closeout activities including journal entry preparation, account review and analysis, account reconciliation, and reporting
- Engage in the FERC Form 6 preparation process
- Assume other accounting responsibilities as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years accounting/finance experience.
