SUMMARY:
Responsible for performing complex governmental accounting functions in support of the District's financial operations. This position maintains the integrity of the general ledger, oversees key financial processes including purchasing cards, cash receipting, and bank reconciliations, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The role supports audit and budget preparation, manages financial reporting requirements, and provides technical accounting guidance to schools and departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Administer the District's purchasing card program, ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures. Train cardholders on appropriate usage, documentation requirements, and approval workflows. Review transactions for allowability, proper coding, and completeness of supporting documentation. Upload and reconcile all p-card transactions within the general ledger system. Serve as liaison with the financial institution and resolve discrepancies or disputes
- Maintain and manage the general ledger. Verify and review all adjusting journal entries for accuracy and proper account coding, including MEF funds and transportation field trips. Research financial questions and provide financial information for schools and departments as requested. Create ACH and Prenote submission files for check run.
- Perform timely and accurate reconciliations of assigned District bank and investment accounts. Investigate and resolve variances, ensuring proper documentation and audit trail.
- Record and reconcile revenue and deposits for Preschool, Student Activities, Nutrition Services and other special funding sources. Ensure proper fund accounting and compliance.
- Manage the District's online payment platform for student activities, athletics, and events. Coordinate setup and maintenance for schools and departments. Reconcile electronic payment activity and ensure accurate recording in the financial system.
- Completes all reporting and request documents related to submission of the CDE 40 transportation reimbursement request. Ensure supporting documentation aligns with state requirements.
- Serve as the first point of contract for school secretaries providing reports and assistance as needed.
- Assist with year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and audit schedules. Support external auditors by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred with major coursework in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
- Associate's degree in business or accounting required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 2 or more years of governmental accounting experience required with preference working directly in governmental accounting, school district accounting, budgeting, and analysis.

MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE:
- Advanced operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
- Advanced operating knowledge and skill Microsoft Excel.
- Operating knowledge of and experience with office software. Experience with Tyler Technologies (Infinite Visions) preferred.
- Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, E-mail, etc.
TRAINING:
- Mandatory Title IX training is required by the Colorado Department of Education and for all public school employees. Title IX training addresses harassment, discrimination, and bullying. Completing these mandatory Title IX training courses ensure we are meeting state requirements while continuing to foster a culture of safety and belonging across our schools.
- You will have two mandatory training courses that must be completed within 30 days of your date of hire and are required to be completed on your own time.
