Summary:
This corporate owned property Accountant position is responsible for maintaining financial records for all assigned OAK (Owned & Acquired Properties of KOA) campgrounds, as well as several corporate bank accounts. Key duties include daily bank and credit card reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation, and assistance with month-end close and financial reporting. The role also supports field locations, assists with audits, and works closely with accounting leadership to ensure timely and accurate financial information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain financial records, reports, and general ledger accounts for assigned company-owned properties in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures. Perform daily reconciliations of corporate main bank account to provide accounting leadership with accurate, real-time cash flow visibility. Reconcile corporate credit card accounts daily through the Stripe platform, ensuring accurate transaction recording and timely resolution of discrepancies. Prepare assigned OAK property journal entries, account analyses, and bank reconciliations, and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. Process and reconcile physical inventory counts received from assigned campground locations. Support General Managers and field bookkeeping staff by responding to accounting-related inquiries and coordinating home office payments as needed with assistance from the A/P team. Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances as needed for assigned OAK properties and corporate accounts. Ensure all accounting transactions, reconciliations, and reports are completed using established processes and within reporting deadlines. Respond to internal and external information requests, review profit and loss statements, and assist with financial audits as needed. Collaborate with the Director of Accounting and Controller on special projects, process improvements, and other accounting functions as assigned. Demonstrate an understanding of KOA accounting practices. Complete all assigned accounting close activities accurately and in a timely manner. Analyze and review accounting information for reasonableness. Use best practices for all accounting procedures. Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of all sensitive and proprietary company data. Protect unauthorized disclosure of information, personal identifiable information (PII), and financial documents across all physical and digital communication channels.

Required Education and Experience:
At least two years’ experience in accounting or a related field Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles Highly organized and detail-oriented Strong mathematical and analytical skills Excellent problem-solving and time management skills Valid driver’s license
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related business discipline preferred GAAP and Accrual accounting knowledge preferred
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboard, including lifting and carrying a laptop and other small items up to 20 pounds.
Prolonged exposure to computer screens and artificial lighting.
Use of repetitive motion, standing, bending, sitting, lifting, and walking short distances. May be expected to drive a vehicle to KOA locations, other locations as directed, and conferences which requires close and distance vision, sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, other vehicles, etc. Travel occurs in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Frequent in person interaction with KOA employees in various settings, where noise level is typically low to moderate, including office spaces.
