DESCRIPTION 

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking an Accountant III working within the cash receipting section. This position processes the incoming payments for cost of care and other miscellaneous payments review and mails out invoices for Detention Cost Share to counties monthly. This is work comprised of recording the department’s daily receipts into the accounting system (ARMS) and into FLAIR and PALM. This position involves paying close attention to detail when receiving and recording payments and assigning all the coding into ARMS and FLAIR for accuracy. All deposits are scanned and validated in Axiom Pro. This position is responsible for checking the accuracy of transactions posted to the accounts. Some positions in this occupation may be responsible for cross training and training employees.

Minimum Starting Salary: $1,491.85 Bi-weekly. (In accordance with current spending restrictions, an internal promotion will be filled at the minimum of the pay grade or up to 5% of the employee’s current rate, whichever is higher.)                              

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidate Profile (application) must be completed in its entirety.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

Preference will be given to candidates with six months experience

Preference will be given to candidates with FLAIR, Florida Palm, banking experience and cost of care experience

SPECIAL NOTES:

When identified on a position description, a valid driver’s license is required. If initially hired with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state driver’s license within 30 days of hire. Licenses suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/education only licenses) and some types of restricted licenses are not acceptable. Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable, provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
