Job Title: Accountant II - Warehouse Accountant
Retirees of the Texas Teachers Retirement System (TRS) may apply. Consistent with district policy SD-7.17 “Employment of Retirees,” selected applicants are responsible for reimbursing the district, through payroll deduction, for the current rate of all TRS pension or TRS Care surcharges. As of September 1, 2025, the TRS pension surcharge rate is 16.5% and the TRS Care surcharge is $535/month.
Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Group: S40 Salary Plan
Primary Purpose: Perform warehouse accounting work under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/ Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) required.
Major course work in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field preferred.
Two years of full-time, wage-earning experience in accounting, accounting clerical, auditing, bookkeeping or warehouse inventory operations.
Each year of experience as described below in excess of the required two years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year for year basis.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations and statutes preferred.
Knowledge of standard accounting practices and procedures. Knowledge of warehouse methods, material handling, purchasing, stock control, related record keeping and reporting.
Knowledge of automated financial information systems.
Knowledge of WSD organizational structure preferred.
Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, agencies, and organizations.
Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Skill to prepare and maintain complex records and filed in an automated system.
Skills in the use of Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent to include word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software programs.
Skill to operate ten-key calculator proficiently.
Skill in problem-solving techniques.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Coordinate warehouse stock for the District and provide training to WSD staff on warehouse stock purchasing protocols.
2. Implement, coordinate and monitor the Inventory System for all stock items received and processed by the warehouse.
3. Conduct physical quarterly inventories and make system adjustments as needed.
4. Process inventory receipts in the accounting system and create shipping documents for all purchased items received through the warehouse.
5. Prepare, compile and maintain all physical and/or computerized reports, records, and other documents required for the efficient operation of the warehouse.
6. Prepare warehouse stock analysis for annual financial reporting.
7. Update and maintain the Item Master file for all warehouse items.
8. Coordinate with the Purchasing department and vendors to maintain sufficient inventory to include annual contracts, replenishments and order points.
9. Provide training for new employees and departmental staff regarding inventory transactions to include requisitions for stock items and district shipping procedures.
10. Monitor the record retention requirements for all shipping tickets for WSD units and departments annually.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
