Summary
Maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciliations in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Rolling Hills Casino.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to analyze financial information and to prepare data for financial reports.
- Prepare assets, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Document financial transactions by entering account information
- Recommend financial actions by analyzing accounting options
- Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Secure financial information by completing database backups
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile transactions
- Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Communicate effectively with clients and fellow cast members
- Contribute to a strong client relationship through positive interactions with client personnel
- Communication with Manager and/or Director on work status and client issues that arise
- Compiles financial information pertaining to the following: general ledger, fixed assets, month end closing, accounts payable, accounts Receivable or payroll.
- Generates, prepares, adjusts, and corrects general journal entries in an accurate and timely matter.
- Enters assets into the fixed asset system
- Organizes and conducts annual fixed asset inventory, prepares monthly depreciation schedules, records and reconcile depreciation in the general ledger.
- Prepares month end income and expense accrual entries.
- Provides backup to accounts payable by reviewing invoices for accuracy and processing check requests
- Periodically will audit payroll reports and PTO accruals to perform account reconciliations
- Reviews and reconciles progressive jackpot reports
Requirements:
Minimum 21 years of age
Qualifications
Knowledge of financial applications, proficient in basic computer skills. Experience in Microsoft 360 and 10-key. Accounting software preferred. Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP) required. Excellent organizational and time management skills required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply basic math and algebra skills.
Education/Experience
High School or GED with 5 years accounting experience. Associates degree and 2 years of accounting experience is preferred. Experience with fixed assets, amortization schedules and various expense accruals, such as payroll and accounts payable desired.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization preferred.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or respond to questions from managers, vendors, or customers. Ability to interpret financial statements.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Gaming license issued by the Paskenta Gaming Commission. Must obtain Title 31 certification as trained by Rolling Hills Casino.
