Jones-Hamilton Co., a leading chemical manufacturer, is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Accountant I to join our finance team. In this role, you'll be key to supporting the day-to-day accounting functions, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes for timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and maintain financial records, including journal entries, invoices, and expense reports.
- Assist with the annual budget process.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Participate in audits and provide documentation as needed.
- Assist in maintaining the General Ledger and record transactions to ensure account accuracy.
- Provide backup support and training for accounting software systems.
- Manage fixed asset records, tracking acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years of accounting experience.
- Manufacturing, distribution, or chemical industry experience preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
- Proficient with financial systems, ERP software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Must pass drug screening as required.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Working Conditions:
- In-person office-based position with standard business hours.
- Occasional overtime may be required during month-end, year-end, or peak workload periods.
- Extended periods of sitting and computer use.
- Frequent use of accounting software, Excel, and other office applications.
- Requires strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually.
