- Monitor and perform all phases of grant/special revenue accounting according to federal, state and district guidelines.
- Review special revenue accounting transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, Texas Education Agency guidelines, and applicable policies and laws.
- Reconcile and perform analysis for assigned programs weekly, monthly, annually, and at the end of the fiscal year and funding period; determine and record necessary accruals and other adjustments in the proper period; and obtain necessary supporting documentation for any proposed adjustments.
- Complete various daily functions for special revenue funds as needed (i.e. journal entries, budget transfers, reimbursement requests, deposits, etc.)
- Generate various financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to provide status of assigned funds to management and/or remain compliant with federal, state or local agency guidelines.
- Assist internal and external auditors during annual district financial audit and grantor agency audits.
- Keep abreast of technical, legislative and professional trends and developments affecting assigned programs and disseminate information to appropriate district personnel.
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Two years of directly related experience in accounting financial analysis, and budgeting in a fund environment and 1 years of grants accounting experience. (preferred)
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, and their application to a variety of accounting audits, transactions, and problems.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Knowledge of financial research and report preparation methods and techniques.
- Knowledge of computer skills, specifically with MS Windows, MS Office Professional, and financial systems.
- Knowledge of the analysis and interpretation of financial data and the ability to analyze, interpret, and prepare a variety of financial statements and reports.
- Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local law and regulations pertaining to accounting.
- Ability to communicate with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality, meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; and working with detailed information/data.
