Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Finance Operations, the Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger in compliance with IFRS reporting standards.
- Facilitate wire transfers and EFT payment processing and assist with cheque deposit activities.
- Perform daily reconciliations of bank accounts and weekly GL reconciliation.
- Prepare and submit monthly regulatory filings to OSFI.
- Analyze and report on monthly bank fees.
- Prepare broker compensation reports, coordinate payment remittances, and manage the commission mailbox while maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide cross-functional support and backup coverage for team members as required.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including booking employee expense accruals, year-end audits, and quarterly reviews.
- Support internal and external stakeholders by preparing information and analysis for ad hoc requests
- Administer the travel and expense management system, including employee onboarding and offboarding, user access management, expense report processing, corporate credit card administration, user training, troubleshooting, and ongoing employee support.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree, Diplomas & Certifications:
- The position requires a bachelor’s degree in business and/or equivalent work experience
- Performs work under minimal supervision
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience including superior Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to learn quickly and to work under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Alteryx is an asset.
- The position requires strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional organization and time management skills.
