Responsibilities
- Enter financial data and transactions
- Analyze budgets and other financial information
- Reconcile bank statements
- Prepare financial reports and statements
- Verify the accuracy of transactions that have been entered
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Create accounting policies to comply with all rules and regulations
- Process payroll
- MUST be a Certified Public Accountant
- Worked for a not-for-profit organization as an accountant
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of the GATA process
- Good with spreadsheets, experienced in Microsoft Excel, QuickBooks, and basic accounting systems
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills

WHAT’S IN THE NAMEThe framework behind the name of our organization came from a sermon titled “A Knock At Midnight” preached by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.- which was later published in a book entitled, The Strength To Love. Being educated on the nuances of the civil rights movement for over 15 years, the one thing that stuck with one of our founders, Minister Johnny Banks Sr.

Our Goal is to Help Our CommunityA Knock At Midnight, NFP (AKAM) is a non-for-profit, 501© (3) community- based organization established in September of 2003, located on the south side of Chicago, Illiniois. AKAM primarily focuses on providing direct services in the communities of Auburn Gresham, Englewood, West Englewood, and West Chatham. However, our services are also extended throughout the city and surrounding surburban areas.
