NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL BE BASED FULL-TIME IN OUR HOUSTON, TX OFFICE LOCATED AT 990 TOWN & COUNTRY BLVD. POSITION SUMMARY: The Accountant 2 reports to the Manager, Assistant Controller. This role will be the “first line” of support and subject matter expert for accounts payable and company travel, reimbursable expenses and supplier inquiries. Primary responsibilities include the proper accounting of employee expense reports, managing the company airfare invoice, processing accounts payable invoices, and preparing journal entries. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure supplier invoices are timely and accurately entered, routed to the appropriate individual and approved in Oracle (NuScale’s ERP).
- Audit and process employee expense reports, providing support to employees on policy requirements.
- Prepare payment runs for approved invoices and expense reimbursements to ensure timely and accurate payments.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers and employees regarding accounts payable, expense reporting, and travel matters in accordance with NuScale’s policies.
- Reconcile the company airfare invoice, gather required trip support, and track and apply airfare credits owed to the company.
- Support month-end close by preparing journal entries in accordance with U.S. GAAP, reconciling the AP subledger, and submitting the monthly AP aging.
- Serve as a supporting subject matter expert for NuScale’s travel-related services and applications, including internal and external travel websites.
- Assist with maintaining internal controls and SOX compliance related to accounts payable and expense reimbursements.
- Support periodic audit requests by providing required documentation.

- Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards, and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.
- Education: A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field is required. An advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant designation is preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of full-time accounting experience is required. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams, as well as independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Additional required or preferred skills are as follows:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- General knowledge of US GAAP and SOX
- Experience with Oracle ERP and EPM is not required, but is a plus
- Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
- Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers.
- Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environment.
- The employee frequently is required; to sit and stand; walk; bend, use hands to operate office equipment; and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift ten to fifteen pounds.

Pay and Benefits:
The target pay range for this position is $66,534 - $80,315 annually. The full pay range is $59,665 - $93,313 annually.
