Job Summary:
The Tax Intern works in a short-term (in-person only) program to support the tax accounting team. The Tax Intern assists with the preparation and calculation of various tax information and assists in projects such as individual tax research and sales tax projects. Focus on general tax services.
Schedule:
Seasonal position from February through April, typically 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be required based on business needs.

Tax Preparation and Accounting
Effectively follows directions for preparation of individual, gift and fiduciary returns. Also, business property statements.
May assist with small business projects.
Administrative Tasks
- Follows all policies and procedures established by firm.
- Enters time daily to ensure current and accurate tracking of hours.
- Assigns hours to each client to ensure accurate billing.
- Follows safety rules according to firm Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
Job Requirements: To perform this job successfully, the individual must possess the following education, licenses and certifications, experience, and skills.
Education
- Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required: Working towards Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
- May be working towards masters' degrees or as summer interns or during academic breaks.
Experience
- No minimum professional experience required
Technical Skills
- Foundational understanding of accounting theory and accounting practices.
- Basis understanding of the rules, regulations, and code of conduct.
- Foundational knowledge of the tax guidance utilized by the firm.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Comfortable working under pressure, multi-tasking and meeting deadlines.
- Solid skills in Microsoft Word, Excel including advanced Excel functions; Lacerte exposure is a plus.
Interpersonal Skills
- High level of enthusiasm to work collaboratively in a team environment to meet and exceed expectations for internal and external clients.
- Self-motivated to complete tasks and assignments with guidance from the tax staff. Able to work in a high pressure environment.
- Upholds the professional standards of conduct for respectful behavior and demonstrates a high degree of personal integrity.

The compensation for this position ranges from $25.00 - $25.00 per hour. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills, licensure, and certifications.
