Description

Job Title: Staff Accountant

Main Purpose of Job: To support the Regional Finance Lead with accounting, data entry, administrative tasks, and other responsibilities across minor league baseball operations.

Reports To: Regional Finance Lead

Hours of Work: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with occasional extended hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end close).

Position Overview: The Staff Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the daily operations of the finance department. This position focuses on invoicing and collections, accounts payable, balance sheet reconciliations, internal controls and other accounting tasks.

 

Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities:

  • Record accounting transactions in the NetSuite ERP to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Manage accounts receivable ‚Äì generate customer invoices, and record payments.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Organize and maintain digital and physical financial records.
  • Support the Accounting and Finance departments with month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare reports and summaries for financial review for Club General Managers, including monthly budget vs. actual reviews
  • Work alongside other regional staff accountants to determine areas of automation, standardization and enhancement.
  • Help compile various reports for compliance, such as Major League Baseball reporting and stadium rent reporting.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting updates.
  • Respond to routine inquiries from vendors and internal departments regarding payments and invoices.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with company financial policies and procedures.

 

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Professionalism in written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

 

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with NetSuite accounting software and Bill.com preferred.

Preferred:

  • Interest or experience in sports or the entertainment industry.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a professional office environment. Occasional visits to minor league baseball facilities may be required.
