Senior Accountant

 We are hiring for three (3) Senior Accountant positions who will work remotely and report to our CFO but partner with one of three FQHC Medical Clinics:  Mendocino Coast Clinics in Fort Bragg, Anderson Valley Medical Clinic in Booneville, and Redwood Coast Medical Service in Pt. Arena.  

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing key accounting activities, preparing accurate financial statements, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and applicable regulations. This role works closely with the rest of the finance team and onsite management to maintain accurate financial records and provide meaningful financial insights to management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger accounts      and perform monthly account reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries,  accruals, prepaids, and adjusting entries.
• Lead or support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare and  analyze financial statements and management reports.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other balance sheet accounts.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and unusual transactions.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Support external audits and provide requested schedules and documentation.
• Assist with tax filings and other regulatory reporting as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
• Maintain organized  and accurate financial documentation.
• Provide accounting guidance and support to junior accounting staff.
• Perform other accounting and financial analysis duties as assigned.

•   Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,      Finance, or a related field.
• 3–7 years of progressive      accounting experience, preferably including      general ledger and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of      GAAP and accounting principles.
• Experience with month-end and      year-end close processes.
• Experience preparing      financial statements and supporting audits.
• Advanced Excel skills, including      formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• Experience with accounting      software or ERP systems.
• Strong analytical,      organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention      to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple      priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal      communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems such as MIP, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Public accounting or audit experience.
• Healthcare- FQHC experience 
• Experience with process improvement and internal controls.
