Senior Accountant

A well-established, large manufacturing corporation headquartered in Manhattan, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their accounting team on a contract basis. This individual will play a key role in supporting the month-end close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities during a critical period.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Lead assigned aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and assist with cash reconciliations.
• Assist with fixed asset accounting, accruals, prepaid expenses, and intercompany transactions.
• Partner with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor requests.
• Assist with process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures.
• Complete special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Manufacturing industry experience is preferred but not required.
• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or NetSuite.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
