A leading company in Monterey is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist for a flexible opportunity available on either a contract or contract-to-hire basis.
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE: The role can be structured as either full-time or part-time, offering flexibility to accommodate the right candidate's schedule.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced processing high-volume, biweekly payroll while ensuring compliance with California wage and hour laws.
Responsibilities:
- Process end-to-end biweekly payroll for around 100 employees.
- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule.
- Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, deductions, and garnishments.
- Review and audit payroll data for accuracy prior to processing.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all California payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and company policies.
- Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and payroll-related audits.
- Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure accurate employee and payroll data.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Experience processing biweekly payroll for at least 50 employees.
- Strong knowledge of California payroll laws and wage and hour regulations.
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
