We're seeking a passionate and ambitious individual to join our established and thriving client as a Payroll Coordinator. Working within the Halifax, NS office, you'll have the opportunity to grow and develop your skills within a professional environment that fosters mentorship and growth.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Entry of new hire information and payroll data
  • Track and update employment statuses, banking information, benefits, and time sheet data within the HRIS and payroll systems
  • Support the Payroll Manager in the entry and processing of a variety of payroll runs
  • Reconcile and verify account balances
  • Journal entries
  • Calculate and tracking vacation time, leaves, deductions, etc.
  • Issue ROEs and support with T4 documents
  • Investigate payroll discrepancies, and working with team members to resolve them
  • Onboard employees in benefit and pension plans, providing general information as needed
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding payroll and/or HR
  • Other payroll and human resources duties, as assigned

Skills & Attributes for Success:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, or other relevant field
  • PCP designation, or a willingness to obtain
  • Minimum 1 – 2 years’ of related work experience is preferred
  • General knowledge of HR, payroll, and/or basic accounting practices
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Motivated work ethic with the desire to learn and grow
  • Calm, professional demeanor with the ability to actively listen to others in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
