THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Accounting, this position provides in-depth technical accounting support to the organization and is pivotal in the preparation, review, and filing of public documents and correspondence with the SEC. This role is instrumental in leading the Company’s compliance efforts related to Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) and acts as a key technical accounting resource for the finance department. The ideal candidate will be a CPA with experience either auditing or working for a publicly traded company in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the preparation and review of SEC filings, including but not limited to 10-Ks, 10-Qs, Proxy Statements, and 8-Ks
  • Conduct technical accounting research and assessments in areas such as revenue recognition, business development activities, and other significant non-routine transactions
  • Support internal SOX and external audit requirements, coordinating where possible to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure accurate accounting treatment of contracts, and prepare comprehensive memos and analyses to support conclusions and facilitate implementation of solutions
  • Monitor, interpret and assist in the implementation of new accounting standards
  • Manage stock compensation and equity accounting, including the development of assumptions and review of expense calculations
  • Assist in the preparation and review of non-recurring and complex journal entries, ensuring the accurate reflection of unique transactions and events
  • Act as secondary support to the Director, Corporate Accounting for various accounting and financial functions as needed

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor‚Äôs degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 5+ years of combined public accounting and public biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry accounting experience
  • CPA
  • A strong grasp of US GAAP, SOX, and SEC reporting requirements
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including the ability to independently research and interpret accounting literature

WORK LOCATION AND CONDITIONS

  • This is a remote friendly role, but you must reside and work within the United States, and in a state where Amylyx currently does business, to be considered. Any change in your remote location must be approved by Amylyx
  • You will be required to follow Amylyx‚Äôs Remote Work Policy which includes: ¬†
    • traveling to our corporate location in Cambridge, MA several times a year and attending other company-related events as necessary and requested, which may include travel by air, driving, or public transportation.
    • working in a setting that meets all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to communicate via video conference, etc.) at your remote location
    • Information security protocols and steps to maintain confidentiality of Amylyx information, technology, and materials.
