Group Finance Manager

Job scope:

Salutem is a fast-growing, acquisitive complex care group that has grown out of several different businesses with different backgrounds and processes.  We have 129 sites across England and Wales consisting or residential care, supported living, day care, community services, colleges, and schools.  We care for children and adults living with complex care needs including autism, learning disabilities, mental health, and physical disabilities.  Our main offices are based in Windsor, Berkshire.

The finance team are part of the wider shared services functions and offer support to the group across all entities.   We are seeking an experienced Group Finance Manager to lead the management account processes across the group and to manage the finance team on a day-to-day operational basis.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage the production of the P&Ls for the group, adhering to the reporting deadlines.  Consolidating the monthly actuals into a group P&L along with variance reviews and commentary versus budget and forecasts.
• Manage finance projects such as system upgrades, new build financial modelling and reporting, dealing with technical reports and ensuring all reporting deadlines are met.
• Provide in depth monthly reporting to a variety of stakeholders, including staff costing and profitability.
• Lead the budgeting, quarterly and 3-year forecasting process with a particular emphasis on staffing and resource planning
• Respond to ad-hoc queries and reporting requirements.
• Ensure the balance sheets of each company are fully reconciled on a monthly basis and provide analysis and reports to management.
• Ensure financial controls within the Sage system are operated correctly.
• Manage the finance team on a day-to-day basis, supported by the Group Finance Controller, ensuring all areas are meeting the expected KPIs in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Experience Must have:

• Demonstrable experience in managing the finance function and delivering financial reporting in a timely manner
• Previous experience managing people.
• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA with demonstrable experience working in industry
• Customer management skills.
• Outgoing confident approach in dealing with non-finance people and communicating effectively.
• Able to work in the UK and receive a clear DBS check.

Nice to have:

• Experience in the healthcare sector and dealing with NHS CCG and local authorities
• Experience using Sage 200 ideal or similar accounting system.
• Excellent Excel skills including XLOOKUPS, SUMIFS, pivot tables, power query, macros, data tables and data models.

The ideal candidate would have prior finance manager experience and have worked in industry. They must have a very clear idea of how finance teams should be run, what controls are required and how systems and processes need to work together.  A high degree of computer literacy is required (Microsoft Office), and be able to prepare spreadsheets and export data to analyse in Excel, be confident on the telephone and in interaction with both internal and external parties, have good time management and organisational skills to manage a demanding workload, be able to work under pressure and at a quick pace - a proven ability to work effectively and meet deadlines/targets is essential to succeed in this busy position. If you have experience using Sage 200 and worked in the healthcare sector this would be looked upon very favourably.
