General Accountant

Job Description

We’re currently in search of a General Accountant for our client, an established global leader in their industry. This is a long-term maternity leave coverage until June 2025 based in Hackett's Cove, NS. Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will perform hands-on full cycle accounting for this united and focused team.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Month-end
• General ledger postings
• Reconciliations
• Year-end support
• Wire transfers (minimal)
• Process expense reports and review for compliance
• Payroll processing – Canada & US – Hourly & Salaried (Non-unionized)
• Ad hoc reporting and duties as assigned

Experience & Attributes for Success: 

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or finance
• Minimum 5 years’ full cycle accounting experience
• Strong comfort level with technology. Proficiency with Syspro ERP software is a definite asset
• Prior experience within the manufacturing industry would be considered an asset
• Proven ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail with a meticulous and thorough approach
• Willingness to take initiative and contribute to new ideas and processes
