Job Overview
The Financial Product Owner at CourtReserve plays a key role in leading product initiatives related to the financial components of the software. This individual will focus on financial reporting, accrual-based accounting features, and customer financial interactions within the platform. Taking direction from the Product Manager, the Financial Product Owner will collaborate with stakeholders, development teams, and customer support to ensure the platform meets high accounting standards and aligns with GAAP principles.
This role requires a strong background in accounting and financial reporting, with the ability to translate complex financial requirements into actionable product development tasks.

Key Responsibilities Financial Product Development & Oversight
- Lead the development of financial features, ensuring adherence to GAAP principles.
- Oversee product development efforts around financial reporting and revenue recognition.
- Plan and manage the development of accrual-based accounting reports.
- Ensure financial data accuracy and compliance with industry best practices.
- Work with UX & Development teams to create intuitive financial reports.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Customer Engagement
- Interact with customers to assist them in understanding the financial aspects of the software.
- Gather requirements from stakeholders, including accountants, financial professionals, and business owners, to enhance financial reporting capabilities.
- Serve as the financial subject matter expert within the product team.
- Provide assistance to the customer support team as needed for financial training and customer support.
Project & Sprint Management
- Translate financial requirements into user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Work closely with the development team to ensure timely and accurate implementation of financial features.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and QA testing related to financial product features.
- Track and manage financial product-related initiatives to ensure completion on time and within scope.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge base articles and release notes related to financial features.
- Ensure financial compliance and security best practices within the platform.
- Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to financial regulations.
Qualifications Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles and financial reporting best practices.
- Experience in product ownership or product management within a financial software environment.
- Ability to write clear and detailed user stories with financial acceptance criteria.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working with financial or accounting software.
- Familiarity with tax reporting, revenue recognition, and accrual-based accounting.
- Prior experience in SaaS product development or financial technology (FinTech) a plus.
Salary
- $80,000 to $90,000 salary based on experience.
