Job Description

Our client is an energetic, thriving, and expanding professional services firm in St. John's, Newfoundland. They are currently in search of an experienced and versatile Bookkeeper to maintain financial records for a portfolio of clients. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity, ideal for an experienced professional seeking to contribute their well-rounded skills as part of an engaged team that values a positive office culture and work/life balance.

Key Responsibilities for the Job: 

  • Maintain financial records for various clients
  • Prepare bank reconciliation
  • Payroll processing
  • Preparation and filing of payroll remittances
  • Preparation and filing of HST returns
  • Client tax compliance maters for income tax, payroll and HST
  • Other bookkeeping/accounting support related duties as required

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Post secondary education in business, accounting, or bookkeeping
  • 5+ years of experience in a multi-faceted bookkeeping role(s)
  • Prior experience working with a public accounting firm is an asset
  • Proficiency with Sage50 is required and prior experience with QuickBooks, Xero, and/or other online accounting software programs are considered an asset
  • Efficiency, willingness to learn and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skill
  • A positive attitude with effective communication skills
