The Assistant Controller is responsible for accounting and financial functions as well as direct supervision of the accounting team.  The primary responsibility for the position includes supervision of the monthly accounting close process, treasury management & forecasting cash requirements, audit and tax prep support, safeguarding accounts, financial analysis, and financial statement preparation for multiple entities, work with other department leaders to ensure proper internal controls are followed within the organization, and participate in creating and implementing policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues in addition to creating procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate.   The Assistant Controller will be responsible for supervising and developing 5-6 direct reports who are team leaders. The position will report to the company Controller and will directly supervise Accounting Manager, Payroll Manager, and AP Manager.   

Areas of responsibility are:

- Work closely with the Controller to ensure the financial success of the Company.
- Directly supervise and lead the Accountants, Payroll Manager and AP manager. 
- Perform and oversee the accounting functions for the General Ledger, Cash Management and Accounts Payable 
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Treasury and Cash Management: 

Job Requirements (skills, abilities, proficiency): 

  1. BS/BA degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related discipline. Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare in both the private and public accounting sectors.  

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in Assistant controller and/or Controller roles, with progressive financial accounting experience.  

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing remote or hybrid accounting team in a leadership role supervising a team of manager level leaders within a healthcare company accounting setting. Proficient with oversight and management of team leads or department managers, providing guidance, support, and leadership to ensure efficient operations and achievement of organizational goals. 

  1. Proficiency with NetSuite. 

  2. Expertise in financial analytics and research skills with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate the financial condition of the organization to the Controller, CFO and other members of leadership team both orally and in writing.  Experience presenting financial statement results, highlighting key variances, explaining positive and negative performance drivers, explaining the analyses, propose the need for operational changes. 
  3. ​​​Expertise with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, including in-depth knowledge of complex functions/data analysis using tools such as V- Lookup, Pivot Tables etc.in Excel. 
  4. Must be flexible with a can-do attitude and will not be above any task given in an ever-changing environment and willingness to get the job done including working extended hours to meet deadlines.
