What You'll Do:
- Review reports and schedules to ensure accuracy of day-to-day transactions across multiple accounting systems.
- Review and approve direct reports' work (vouchers, schedules, etc.).
- Reconcile and identify issues within accounts within area of responsibility.
- Work with operations and accounting departments to resolve problems.
- Negotiate with vendors and is escalation point for vendor issues.
- File federal and state reports related to specific areas.
- Prepare corrections and accruals.
- Mentor their team, conduct evaluations, interview/hire new AP staff, and address any performance issues.
- Implement training for new hires and identify training opportunities.
- Address complaints and resolve problems.
- Manage regular check-run processes and oversee payment runs to ensure timely vendor payment.
Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities
- This position is responsible for the direct supervision of subordinates employed to assist with accomplishing the above. The number of personnel varies from time to time depending on the relative level of activity within the department.
- Supervision includes task assignment, training, monitoring and reviewing of work product, periodic performance reviews of each subordinate, and assessing their additional training needs.
What We're Looking For:
Required Education, Experience and/or Abilities
- An associate’s degree in accounting and four (4) or more years of accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
- Complete understanding of accounting principles.
- Attention to detail with the ability to verify accuracy in one’s own work.
- Ability to work in a team environment while demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read basic business documents (invoices, various financial statements, emails), as well as the ability to correspond in an informative professional manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments and handle multiple activities while adhering to deadlines.
- Ability to reason and problem-solve to complete duties assigned.
- Ability to calculate financial amounts and indicators.
Preferred Education, Experience and/or Abilities
- Oil and gas experience.
- Leadership, supervisory, and training skills.
Computer Skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel software applications.
- Knowledge of Oracle or Excalibur software.
- Ability to master various in-house software applications is essential.
- Ability to use a 10-key by touch; proficiency with computer keyboarding; and the ability to use a copier, fax machine and scanner.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- English language fluency, verbal and written.
- Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.
