Job Description

We are seeking a skilled, dedicated, and dependable Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our clients’ team on a contract basis. This role offers a flexible schedule of 20-30 hours per week and is fully remote; preference will be given to candidates based in Nova Scotia.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing accounts payable functions, particularly within project accounting, and demonstrate strong analytical and organizational skills. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to support our finance team and contribute to efficient financial operations.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of payments
  • Manage invoice processing, including coding, approval, and payment
  • Lead the reconciliation of accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies
  • Supervise and mentor the AP team, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Maintain and update vendor records and manage vendor communications
  • Assist with project accounting tasks, tracking costs and expenditures related to ongoing projects
  • Prepare month-end and year-end closing activities related to accounts payable
  • Generate and analyze AP reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and data

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Minimum of 3 ‚Äì 5 years of experience in accounts payable supervision or management
  • Demonstrated experience with project accounting
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team
