Overview

The Accounting Manager is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Controller, this position is responsible for all branch accounting processes. This position will work closely with the Senior Director of Finance and the Controller to ensure all accounting and administrative processes at the branch are in compliance with our Association Support and Leadership (“ASL”) policies. This position is directly responsible for ensuring all branch End of Day (“EOD”) and Accounts Payable (“AP”) processing is completed timely and accurately for all branches. The Accounting Manager will oversee the Accounting Supervisor and the Business Center Administrators responsible for EOD and AP at branches.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and oversees the accounts payable function for each branch 
  • Responsible for all accounting procedures, including, but not limited to, cash handling processes, cash advance processes, petty cash processes, expense reports, training directors and front-line staff on correct procedures 
  • Works with the Facilities leadership to streamline processing of facilities bills  
  • Responsible for Branch inventory review and reporting both quarterly and annually 
  • Coordinate solutions for accounting anomalies in the operating software and correct errors 
  • Ensures all YMCA policies & procedures, and financial reporting requirements are adhered to at all times 
  • Works in concert with Branch Executive Leadership as well as various Department Heads/Directors to support internal audits 
  • Provides on-going communication with ASL ensuring compliance with all accounting functions 
  • Oversee with draft preparation of Facility Use Agreements and IC packets and ensure directors follow the ASL polices. 
  • In consultation with the Assistant Controller, attends trainings, meetings, retreats, and conferences that are beneficial to personal and professional growth 
  • Professional demeanor and the ability to work well with the public, staff, and volunteers 
  • Excellent writing, communication, and public speaking skills 
  • Ability to engage and motivate high level YMCA volunteers and key community leaders 
  • Ability to excel in initiative, enthusiasm, and understanding of and commitment to the goals of the YMCA. 
  • Must have strong analytical skills, specifically in organizational processes, to assess efficiencies and compliance with policies and procedures and be able to recommend and implement changes when necessary 
  • Working knowledge of Kronos, Adaptive/NetSuite is strongly 
  • High skill level in organization, planning, communications, and implementation of administrative procedures 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Business, Accounting, or equivalent years of experience in related field  
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in Administration/Accounting/Finance/Business Center Experience 
  • Licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications 
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations:
    • American Red Cross
    • American Heart Association
    • American Safety & Health Institute 

Pay Range

USD $71,621.81 - USD $85,946.17 /Yr.
