Accountant (12-month term, with potential for the role to become permanent)

 

As an integral part of the Manderley team, the accountant position will play a crucial role in coordinating the company’s accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and supporting the company’s financial goals. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and company policies. You will collaborate closely with a team of professionals and will be supported by the Accounting Manager.

 

What will YOU be doing as Accountant?‚ÄØ

 

  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
  • Report preparation and review: monthly financial statements, internal reports, management KPI, financial analysis, government agency, ad hoc.
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and strategic planning.
  • Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budgets, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
  • Oversee the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, cost allocations, adjusting entries and month-end close processes.
  • Coordinate and prepare month-end and year-end working papers and spreadsheets.
  • Maintain balance sheet reconciliation.
  • Maintain fixed asset records ensuring proper recording, documentation, and amortization rates in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain Accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities.
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and company policies, identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including tax filings and other statutory requirements.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the annual budget.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage the audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and responses to audit inquiries.
  • Other duties as required.

 

What YOU bring to the table?‚ÄØ

  

  • Minimum 2-4 years‚Äô progressive experience in accounting or similar role.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Experience with accounting applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving and critical thinking: ability to identify gaps in information and take initiative to find answers or solutions.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Team oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • CPA designated or working towards CPA considered an asset.
  • Experience in financial analysis considered an asset.
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Power BI, considered an asset.
  • Compensation 58K to 65K base salary, commensurate with experience.
